Lunchtime Live! Free Concert featuring Double D Acoustics featuring Laura D

Laura Koon (Laura D) started singing in her church choir at the age of 29. This was the beginning of her singing career with various bands, including Eddie J and the C Notes in the mid 90s. Following this, she started her own bands, including Laura D and Bluematter, Laura D and the Groovemachine, and a trio, Laura D and the Non-Perishables.

Laura has entertained many at local venues in the Elkhart area. She has done several radio and television jingles over the years. Other performances include the Elkhart County Fair Vesper service and singing for celebrities, including Scott Hamilton, Peggy Fleming, Bob Dole, and Lou Holtz. She was invited and sang at a girls' Notre Dame basketball game honoring cancer survivors. For the last three years, Laura performed during the annual Jazz Festival in downtown Elkhart.

After a few years of retirement from the band/late-night scene, Laura began singing solo. LauraDsolo allowed Laura to continue her passion for singing in more laid-back atmospheres. It also allowed her to sing her favorite styles, including jazz, R&B, and Motown. The audiences love her alto/tenor voice and describe her vocals as "buttery, smooth, and silky."

Laura is married, the mother of two adult children, and the grandmother of two beautiful boys. She says, "Life is good!"
