    31st Annual Elkhart Jazz Fest

    Three Days. Seven Stages.
    100 Performances. June 22-24.

Since 1988, jazz legends and fans have gathered each summer for a memorable weekend at the Elkhart Jazz Festival. Combining warm, intimate, small-town hospitality with the excitement of big city jazz, the Elkhart Jazz Festival has become an internationally acclaimed event.

Today, the festival showcases more than 100 performers and draws an audience of 20,000 to our community celebration of America’s classic art form – jazz.

Known as the Band Instrument Capital of the World, Elkhart companies employ nearly 2,000 skilled craftsmen in the production of instruments that turn music into art.

We are, perhaps, the only volunteer-delivered jazz festival in the nation. “The City with a Heart” thrives on its enthusiastic volunteers – more than 200 donate time throughout the weekend to bring the festival to life. They set up stages, take ticket orders, help people find their seats, announce the acts, transport musicians, move equipment … and so much more.

Early Bird: Save 25% on VIP, Premium, and Basic Passes now through May 20th!

    Preservation Hall Jazz Band

At a moment when musical streams are crossing with unprecedented frequency, it’s crucial to remember that throughout its history, New Orleans has been the point at which sounds and cultures from around the world converge, mingle, and resurface, transformed by the Crescent City’s inimitable spirit and joie de vivre. Nowhere is that idea more vividly embodied than in the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, which has held the torch of New Orleans music aloft for more than 50 years, all the while carrying it enthusiastically forward as a reminder that the history they were founded to preserve is a vibrantly living history.

Lunchtime Live! Free Concert featuring The Marty Miles Band

With a serious nod to the 60’s folk/rock revolution and an eclectic conspiracy between acoustic and electric guitars encouraged by coltish pots-and-pans of percussion, the Marty Miles Band is simultaneously divergent and classic. Guided by the smooth vocals and lyric songwriting of front man, Marty Miles, an audience can expect a musical journey through the human condition – the question of disenchantment, the crossroads of doubt, a point of faith, a moment of whimsy, a tenuous hope.

Marty Miles is much more than your basic singer, guitarist, and songwriter type. A consummate entertainer - a modern troubadour in the purest sense – he pulls you in. The influence of artists such as Larry Norman, The Beatles, Dan Fogelberg, Ryan Adams, Mat Kearney, Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, Lyle Lovett, John Mellencamp and others can often be heard in his own original tunes as he musically explores the landscape of this thing called Life.

A veteran performer, Marty Miles has been an independent musician since before the term “indie” became a consumer catchword. Mondo Audio, The Eclectic Acoustic Ensemble and Aunt Melby’s Peanut Butter Jar were a few of his previous band expressions, even as he continued to sustain an ongoing schedule of solo gigs. He has had the privilege of opening shows for the likes of John Michael Talbot, Barry McGuire, Honeytree and Andrae Crouch.

Expect to hear music from his most recent CD, Folk/Rock Adventures (available on iTunes & CD Baby), as well as his other three albums, alongside his folk/rock interpretations of popular favorites from other artists.

His music has taken him all over the United States and as far away as Uganda, Africa. In March of 2008 he returned from a couple years of living and performing in Portugal. Currently Northern Indiana is home base for his busy gig schedule.
