Zoso - The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience

Zoso - The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience formed in 1995 to perform the most accurate and captivating Led Zeppelin live show since the real thing. For Zoso, it's much more than just being a tribute. It's about touching a golden era in music. Zoso embodies Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones in their spirit, tightly-wound talent and authenticity.

Zoso's live shows are not about simply playing the right notes, they are about aura and feeling, harkening back to the unique atmosphere Led Zeppelin created. It's in the way they play: Each band member's mastery of authentic vintage instruments coupled with spot-on vocals, guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards, their compelling stage persona and distinct Led Zeppelin sound, with astounding visual imagery recreates the music, magic, and mystery of a Zeppelin concert.

Their passion, musical ability, showmanship and precise attention to detail earned them critical acclaim, name recognition and a loyal national following. The Los Angeles Times hailed the group as being "head and shoulders above all other Zeppelin tributes," and the Chicago Sun-Times declared Zoso is "the closest to the original of any tribute."

    Bridges Out of Poverty

If you didn’t grow up in poverty, you may be unaware of the "hidden rules" that govern many aspects of life for the poor. People in poverty are often in survival mode, and support systems taken for granted in middle class and wealth are largely nonexistent. If your business, agency, or organization works with people from poverty, a deeper understanding of their challenges—and strengths—helps you partner with them to create opportunities for success.

Join us on Tuesday, May 16, as Ruby Payne will share from her book Bridges Out of Poverty and from her expertise on the mindsets of economic classes and how to work toward healthy, sustainable communities.

Registration starts at 6:30 p.m. at The Lerner. The first 100 registrants will receive a free, signed copy of Bridges Out of Poverty.

Free and open to the public.

    Oaklawn's 18th Annual Spring Spectacular

Darryl Strawberry was once regarded as one of the greatest sluggers in baseball, hitting 335 home runs and 1,000 RBI. During his 17-year career, he won four World Series titles, was an eight-time All-Star, and won National League Rookie of the Year honors in 1983. Yet his struggles off the field were infamous. He faced multiple suspensions, arrests, convictions, and even served time in prison. For Strawberry, drugs, alcohol, sex, even the game itself, was all an escape from the depression that came from growing up with an abusive, alcoholic father.

Today, Strawberry is a new man. He's an ordained minister. He and his wife, Tracy, founded Strawberry Ministries, which operates two Christian treatment centers in Florida, and the Darryl Strawberry Foundation, which supports people with autism. He is the author of multiple books and shares his story to give hope and help people transform their lives through the healing power of the gospel.

Lunchtime Live! Free Concert Featuring Acoustic Justice

Acoustic Justice was formed in 2010 as a three piece acoustic group specializing in vocal harmonies. The brainchild of percussionist Ken Fozo a lead singer in the former local band Last Call. Kenny sings the high parts that most other bands avoid or drop the keys on! Acoustic Justice was formed by adding Kenny's talents to the husband and wife team of Jenny and Mel Williams. Jenny's beautiful alto voice, her piano playing and lilting flute solos are now the trademark of the group. Mel Williams brings a baritone voice, harmonica and guitar to the group as well as years of experience as a front man in the local music scene. Acoustic Justice rose to the very top of the small acoustic combo field in 2015...in 2016 they decided to take another step further. They have enlisted the services of Dan Allen, one of the areas best known musicians. Dan not only adds a wonderful Steve Perry like voice to the already strong vocal group. Not to mention his keyboard, bass and lead guitar skills that give the band more musicality and yes...even dance-ability! Acoustic Justice, playing the music that people love!
