Elkhart Municipal Band Free Winter Concert

The Elkhart Municipal Band shakes off the winter woes with a family band musicale that has something for every listener. This concert program includes works by Alfred Reed, Samuel Barber, John Barnes Chance, Percy Aldridge Grainger & Gioachino Rossini. Conductor David Swihart promises a surprise or two, along with something for every member of the family. The mood & music of the afternoon provides:

• For the Poet: The Atalanta in Calydon poetry set to an overture of the winds (played by H.S. students around the world)

• For the Patriotic: A Military Service band composition dedicated to the Army Air Corps Band

• For the Children: A fun, Child-like, whimsical use of melody & instruments

• For the Comedian & Opera lover: A comedy within the music of the opera!

Elkhart’s official city band creates memorable & satisfying concert experiences for all, playing well known concert and symphonic band pieces that are not only exciting and fun for audiences, but the musicians as well.
