Elkhart Municipal Band Free Holiday Concert

A premier performance by The Elkhart Municipal Band to kick off their annual holiday concert. A Holiday Rhapsody was written for Col. Lowell E. Graham (commander & conductor USAF) & the U.S. Air Force Band. This brilliant composition showcases all sections of the band in familiar holiday melodies: 12 Days of Christmas, Gloria (from Angels We Have Heard On High), Deck the Halls, Dashing Through the Snow, I Heard the Bells.

A first for the Elkhart Municipal Band is the performance of Holiday Piece. This selection is a lively version of Carol Of The Bells, and features the percussion section of the band. The melody is a famous and favorite theme used by many TV and radio advertisements.

The festive afternoon concert is filled with seasonal favorites including Alfred Reed's traditional English folk song Greensleeves, which is best-known as What Child Is This.

Contemporary and unique selections include:
A Grown-Up Christmas List made popular by singers Amy Grant and Kelly Clarkson.
David Lovrien's collection of carol favorites written in highly entertaining MINOR keys!!!

All these numbers lead into an audience traditional favorite:
The annual Tuba Christmas with seasonal favorites performed by musicians young and playing tuba, baritone and euphonium instruments. Players come from our surrounding areas. It's always a "wow" sight to see with an unbelievable sound!

The Christmas concert concludes with the holiday sing-a-long and a special guest, Leroy Anderson's Sleigh Ride and Alfred Reed's Russian Christmas Music.
