Elkhart Municipal Band Free Holiday Concert

The Elkhart Municipal Band, sponsored by Mayor Tim Neese and the Elkhart City Council, present their annual Christmas gift of holiday music.

Handbell pre-concert 'Sounds of the Season' will be performed at 1:45 pm by The Jubilee Ringers of Elkhart County; Elkhart's Handbell performing group, now in their 30th community season. The crowd-pleasing annual "Tuba Christmas" is featured within the concert. Christmas favorites are played by a stage-filled group of tubists including tuba, baritone & euphonium instruments. Players come from the surrounding Michiana area.

The concert opener is a collection of holiday favorites with a joyful & buoyant show-biz style that makes spirits bright! An unusual surprise is the band's rendition of "a rather different treatment of several Christmas songs," according to conductor Dave Swihart. This new arrangement to the band is titled: "Minor Alterations- Christmas Through The Looking Glass." It’s destined to become an audience favorite. Other audience holiday favorites being performed include Carol of the Drum, Merry Christmas Darling, and Feliz Navidad.

The holiday concert concludes with an exciting collection of standards in "A Most Wonderful Christmas," that features several band members and gets the audience feet tapping and voices singing!

All this is packaged together with a holiday wish of peace, joy & goodwill to all, from the band personnel & the City of Elkhart.

    A Christmas Carol

Ebenezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes that personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated “Bah! Humbug!” Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he’s forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his Past, Present and Future. Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognizes his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful “Happy Christmas” before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with those that mean the most to him.

    98 Degrees at Christmas

In five short years — from 1997 to 2002 — they'd sold a staggering 10 million records, scored a chart-topping single, "Thank God I Found You," with Mariah Carey and Joe, and collaborated with their collective idol, Stevie Wonder, on "True to Your Heart," for the 1998 animated Disney film, Mulan. Their four-million-selling album, 98° and Rising, spawned the top-5 favorites "Because of You," "I Do," and "The Hardest Thing," while 2000's Revelation peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and yielded a trio of hits, "Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)," "My Everything" and "The Way You Want Me To."

The quartet will release their first full-length album in 4 years, 'Let It Snow', their second Christmas title. Along with beloved standards like "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!," and "Please Come Home For Christmas," the 12-song collection includes their take on "What Christmas Means To Me," and is the standard that was popularized by Wonder.

The band will also be embarking on a 31 city tour kicking off on November 10 and running through December 23. Might 'Let It Snow' lead to future 98° albums? Time will tell, but Timmons certainly hopes so.

Want to meet 98° at the show? Choose from 3 VIP packages that may include Meet & Greet and photo opportunity with 98°, private soundcheck performance, exclusive merchandise & more! Click here for more info:
