H.M.S. Pinafore

The summer series will open with Gilbert and Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore: or, The Lass That Loved a Sailor. The work is the tale of love between the ranks on the British ship from the late 1800s. The plot centers on love between members of different social classes: a middle-class naval captain's daughter (betrothed to the official in charge of the Royal Navy) is really in love with a lower-class common sailor. H.M.S. Pinafore is a tale of romance and adventure on the high seas. This project is an extension of work by the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts to the Elkhart Community with The Lerner providing technical learning opportunities.
