Something New Bridal Event at Lerner Theater offers in-person advice from 'Four Weddings' personality

Brides (and grooms), don’t miss out on a huge opportunity to have all your wedding planning resources at your recently ringed fingertips.

The Something New Bridal Event is Saturday at the Lerner Theatre, and will feature everything you might need as you plan your wedding — even in-person advice from Anthony Navarro of TLC’s 2012 show “Four Weddings.”

Navarro founded the event planning company Liven It Up Events in Chicago and is co-creator and co-host of the Web talk show “The Wedding Planners.”

He gave us a glimpse of passion for wedding planning and a brief preview of his visit.

“I love making people’s lives a little easier when it comes to planning their wedding,” he said. “What’s so great is giving a little bit of guidance to the couples at these events.”

Navarro said he loves the question-and-answer sessions, and his single best piece of advice to future brides is to “take a deep breath and enjoy the engagement process.”

He said the biggest challenge couples face when planning their wedding is not knowing where to start.

Their biggest mistake is starting the plans before setting a budget.

Navarro is the keynote speaker for the Something New Bridal Event and will discuss ways to use Pinterest in wedding planning.

“It gives you a variety of different options and styles,” Navarro said. “It’s a collection and combination of what people all over the world are doing.”

He said those attending can expect him to talk about finding their unique wedding style, along with several other topics.

“What type of bride are you? Are you a modern bride, a contemporary bride, rustic, traditional?” he said. “And there will be some wedding surprises, too.”

Of course, he’ll host a question-and-answer session, so brides-to-be can consult the expert themselves.

Navarro’s keynote address will open the event at 10 a.m. in the theater.

A live remote with U93 radio station and The Stream 97.7 personalities will be from 10 a.m. to noon.

Throughout the day, Gateway Mile merchants and venue representatives along with other top wedding services in the area will be in the Crystal Ballroom, and the Cittadine Room will feature DJs and Iechyd Da Brewing Co. beer. Everything from professional makeup artists and photographers to musicians and cake designers will be there.

During the “Wedding U.” educational sessions, experts will give presentations at 11:20 a.m., 12:20 p.m. and 1:20 p.m.  Time for questions is included.

A question-and-answer session at 2:30 p.m. will feature Navarro and Danny Reynolds of Stephenson’s and more.

A fashion show, produced by Reynolds and Stephenson’s, will be at 3 p.m. in the theater, followed by prize drawings, including $1,000 toward services at Edgerton’s Travel Service and a $500 store credit toward the purchase of a gown at Stephenson’s of Elkhart.
