Elkhart’s Lerner Theatre to show silent movie accompanied by organ music

May 07, 2013

Just in time for Mother’s Day weekend, the Lerner Theatre will host its second silent movie accompanied by live organ music.

Organist Clark Wilson will return Saturday, May 11, to downtown Elkhart for a concert with the theater’s restored pipe organ. Wilson, who has scored dozens of silent movies, will provide the soundtrack to the 1928 comedy “Steamboat Bill Jr.” starring Buster Keaton. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the concert starts at 7 p.m. followed by a short intermission and the movie.

This weekend’s movie is the second silent film the 1,700-seat theater will have shown since restoring its Kimball pipe organ.
