Bringing the Christmas Spirit to the Lerner
A couple hundred children, parents and grandparents came to watch �Prancer� in the Lerner Theatre on Thursday.
The event was free but families were encouraged to bring donations of nonperishable food items or cash for Santa�s Pantry.
The donations filled two tables and overflowed onto the floor.
�We weren�t expecting this much food,� said David Smith, the theater�s general manager. �Some people only came to drop off food, look at the theater and then left.�
The Lerner organized the event in order to share the theater with the community and spread the holiday spirit with a local organization.
�Prancer,� a 1989 film about a young girl who discovers what she thinks is one of Santa�s flying reindeer, was shown free of charge with support from Downtown Elkhart Inc.
