Atwater, Reed to Perform in Lerner Theatre's Valentine's Day-Themed Concert

February 09, 2012

Singer Victoria Atwater met her husband, Bruce Reed, while they were performing in Rossinis The Barber of Seville, in which she played Rosina and he was Count Almaviva.

The couple will come back to Atwaters hometown and perform in a Valentines Day-themed concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Lerner Theatre.

The concert, Love is in the Aire, is one of many they do together. The Elkhart County Symphony Orchestra will play with the couple for much of the show. The concert will also include a silent auction and dinner.

Atwater said it is rare to find a couple who can perform together and not be competitive or jealous. After 10 years of marriage, they have a 7-year-old daughter, Vivien Rose, and 3-year-old son, Tyler.

We have a very harmonious relationship, she said. Not everybody is like that.

An Elkhart native, Atwater is excited to come back and perform in the Lerner for the first time. It will be her husbands first time singing in Elkhart. The concert will mix traditional and more modern singing styles, along with dinner and the auction.

Its not like anything else they could ever go to, certainly not around Elkhart or most places, even in New York City, she said.

The concert will be split into three segments, all of which include well-known operatic selections, as well as Broadway favorites like West Side Story and The Phantom of the Opera.

Tickets are $50 and will include a silent auction and dinner. Proceeds will go to the ECSO.

The event will be in the Lerners Crystal Ballroom. The theater is at 410 S. Main St., Elkhart. For more information call 293-4469 or go to
