About 350 Overflow Tickets Available for NPR’s ‘Wait Wait...Don’t Tell Me’

October 25, 2013

Seats to see a live taping of NPR’s “Wait Wait...Don’t Tell Me” in November at the Lerner Theatre are sold out, but there is room for roughly 350 more people to watch the program from the Crystal Ballroom.

Overflow seating for the event in downtown Elkhart will allow fans to watch a livestream Nov. 21 of the news quiz show hosted by Peter Sagal. “Wait Wait...Don’t Tell Me” broadcasts each weekend to nearly 3.5 million listeners on 600 NPR member stations from coast to coast.

WVPE 88.1 station manager Anthony Hunt said the panelists at the taping will be Charlie Pierce, Brian Babylon and Faith Salie. A celebrity guest has not been announced.

Overflow tickets are on sale for $25 at thelerner.com, by phone at 293-4469 or at the Lerner’s box office, 410 S. Main St. The program recorded at the Lerner will air Nov. 23.

Theater seats for “Wait Wait...Don’t Tell Me” sold out during WVPE’s most recent pledge drive, Hunt said. The radio station surpassed its $140,000 goal by raising $156,890 from 1,244 donors to support its NPR programs. Of the total pledges taken during WVPE’s record-breaking fall membership campaign, 264 were first-time contributors. The average gift among donors was $126, an increase from last spring’s average of a little more than $100.
